Bashfuls here and we are Emily, Ainsley, Sadie Allyn, Lily, Ollie, Charlie, Connor, Aiden, Anna, and Nathan (and special guest Logan) and we have made it from Georgia to Mississippi to Louisiana! This morning we woke up at 5:45, to the warm Georgia air and the volume of Mrs. V in our campsites. We departed and left for Auburn, our first named event.
After a quick bus tour and a picture in front of the sign, we left again for Mississippi for a rest stop and a group picture. I really do think we have some new Auburn fans in the group! The bus carried games of UNO and a collection of friendship bracelets being tied for new friends. The van played clean hits the whole ride there, and were single-digit miles from empty twice. On the road again, we made it to New Orleans and saw Jackson Square and the street performers. Once we arrived we walked to the Mississippi River, sweaty of course! While it is not the cleanest, we were all so hot we were really wishing we could cannonball right in! We listened to research about Auburn, Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, Cafe Du Monde, the Mississippi River, and the good ole state of Louisiana!
We tried fried alligator and chicken, lost a wallet, tried beignets and coffee au lait, drank frozen lemonade, ice cream from Kilwins, watched a woman dancing to King Prince, (one of our favorite street performers) got our fortunes read, bought many t shirts, wandered the streets aimlessly, and spent our first real chunk of change on souvenirs.
We headed to our camp site for the night. We arrived to a huge villa with 2 wings- one for the girls and one for the boys. We were all so surprised and SO glad to have air conditioning and bunk beds to sleep one. We gathered in our groups and started to prepare our performances for the night to the song Dixieland Delight. After a chaotic 2 hours of cooking and acting we ate pasta, garlic bread, salad, and cookies for dinner. We then watched all the performances. They all ranged from acting to a screaming concert. We ended the night with a terrifying speech from V about the Grand Canyon and how we will have to start our hike at 4am! We are all sleeping happily now in our air conditioned rooms ready for the long drive tomorrow.
We heard everything is bigger in Texas, so looking forward to having the best day ever tomorrow!
Love, The Bashfuls!
