This morning we met at Mallard Creek Church bright and early around 9 AM for takeoff! It was a very emotional sendoff… mostly for the parents. We have had many fun stops along the way like Wal-Mart and Flying J’s! The majority of us started on the bus and 2 bashfuls from our group made up the 12 on the van. While on the bus we all participated in speed dating… a little awkward on the first day but gave us the opportunity to meet everyone on the trip. Our first stop was at the South Carolina rest stop where we took some pictures and quick bathroom break, including some participants sprinting.
After speed dating, learning our schedules, and jamming to Baby by Justin Bieber, we stopped at Wal-Mart for our first time where some of us again sprinted to the bathroom. We got to shop, get snacks, and have fun with different people than we sat with on the bus/van. Once we finished shopping and some of us sprinting (yet again) to catch the bus, we enjoyed sharing snacks, playing games, and talking on the way to our next stop.
We were a little confused and definitely a little hangry after hearing the stop was 2 minutes, 25 minutes, and 2 hours away from different people. Luckily we got to our campsite pretty fast and finally got to meet our group members and start this amazing blog :) !
The happy's cooked us a delicious dinner of hamburgers, fresh watermelon, chips, and cookies! After we all had full bellies and had already taken our dip in the lake, it was time for relay races! We were faced with many extravagant races put on by our staff and program directors including balloons, ping pong balls on spoons, dizzy bat, field hockey, and more! After all the fun we had our first sing along of our trip, alittle shaky at first but we got the hang of it quickly! Once we wrapped up displaying our beautiful singing voices it was time to shower off and head to bed to get ready for our big day at Auburn and New Orleans!
